Book Club Meeting, Chapter 1

July 2, 2025

The July 2025 Webinar Wednesday for the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA) served as the first book club meeting. The book club met to discuss Chapter 1 of "Cultivating Trauma-Informed Practice in Student Affairs” by Tricia R. Shalka, where members shared their perspectives on trauma definitions and experiences in educational settings. The group explored various aspects of trauma including its impacts on students, the importance of creating safe spaces, and the challenges of addressing trauma in academic environments. Through discussions and personal examples, participants examined trauma-informed practices and the need for professionals to be mindful of trauma signs while maintaining appropriate boundaries and encouraging student resilience.
