Practice in Brief Guidelines


Description:  Practice in brief manuscripts share innovative activities to address emerging or ongoing challenges within the higher education environment. Manuscripts must have applicability to other campus contexts and promote positive improvement for students, staff, or faculty. Manuscripts must demonstrate connection to contemporary scholarly literature. 


Word Count: 2,000 to 4,000 words (inclusive of all information)


Suggested Sections:

  • Abstract

  • Introduction/Background of the topic (e.g., overview of the problem or issue, relevant literature guiding the problem or issue, practice being highlighted to address the problem or issue, goals of the practice)

  • Context for the Practice (e.g., institution type and setting, office/unit description, overview of populations being emphasized, brief history of the problem or issue, details of the practice, etc.)

  • Findings/Impact of the Practice (e.g., outcomes, evidence, alignment of evidence with practice goals)

  • Discussion (e.g., lessons learned, recommendations for other practitioners, limitations)

  • References
