Graduate Student Experience

There are several opportunities for graduate students to get involved in TACUSPA, including the graduate student scholarship, a special breakfast for graduate students, the annual graduate student case study competition, and many others.

Scholarships and Fellowships

The TACUSPA Thomas Moorman Fellowship Program offers graduate students and new professionals (full-time staff members with 1-3 years experience) quality opportunities to network and engage in activities designed to promote the pursuit of a career in higher education and student affairs.

Full-time graduate students who are current TACUSPA members are encouraged to apply for one of the available Graduate Student Scholarships. The application process includes the submission of the application and a faculty reference, and a professional statement of interest including expected benefits to the participant. Scholarship recipients are expected to volunteer up to one (1) hour of their time at the Conference.

Scholarship application coming soon.

Case Study Competition

All graduate students attending the conference will be invited to participate in the 2021 Case Study Competition at the fall conference. The competition offers graduate students (both Masters and Doctoral) an opportunity to test their knowledge of higher education and student affairs by applying what they know to a challenging case study. Individuals who register for the competition will be placed on teams with other participants from across Texas, and each team will be given a case to analyze. Teams will present their solutions and receive feedback on their performance by a panel of judges consisting of faculty and highly experienced practitioners. The Case Study Competition winning team will be announced and presented an award during the final luncheon of the conference.

For those interested in participating in a Case Study Competition prior to the Conference, sign-up to participate in the Virtual Case Study Competition happening June 23-25, 2021. Deadline to register is June 1, 2021.

Graduate Student Conference Events

Throughout the Conference, graduate students will have the opportunity to network with their peers. These events serve as an opportunity for graduate students to learn more about the experiences of their peers, their institutions and opportunities for the future.
