Dear TACUSPA Members:
We have learned that many of you have heard from the Hotel Galvez about cancelling your hotel reservation for the upcoming conference. While we still have been unsuccessful to reach any representatives from the hotel to confirm that they are unable to host our conference, we can assume this to be the case given the reservations being cancelled. Thus, our TACUSPA conference in Galveston is postponed at this point.
For those of you that planned to fly to the conference, I encourage you to consult with your airline representative about a possible refund. While I can't speak for the airlines, I do know that some have reported receiving refunds.
Finally, please know that the TACUSPA board is in daily contact about this situation, and is currently considering other viable options in lieu of the fall conference cancellation. We are also discussing other pertinent details that will arise as a result of this cancellation. Specific information will be forthcoming.
As someone that lives in the Houston area, I want to thank all of you that have sent your warm regards and expressed your willingness to assist us. These kind, generous gestures are greatly appreciated.
Stephen C. Sutton, Ed.D.
TACUSPA President
WELCOME
TACUSPA is made up of student affairs administrators
and practitioners in the colleges and universities of Texas. Current
membership includes professionals at all levels and in all positions
in student development fields. Counselors, deans, student activities,
residence life, vice presidents, faculty members in preparation
programs and many other fields are represented in this organization.
The association normally meets twice yearly, at a summer conference
focusing on a specific issue affecting students and professionals,
and a fall conference that includes the annual meeting of all members.
The TACUSPA homepage provides basic information and resources on
or supporting the purpose of the association. If you are interested
in becoming more active as a student affairs professional you are
strongly encouraged to contact the current President of the association.
